dc.description.abstractEsta pesquisa se dedica ao estudo do patrimônio industrial, especificamente, de uma parcela do legado da Indústria Têxtil no Maranhão, as primeiras fábricas de tecidos implantadas no interior maranhense, nas cidades de Caxias e Codó. O objetivo geral é discutir valores culturais relacionados aos remanescentes dessa indústria, que se desenvolveu no séc. XIX e XX, de modo a demonstrar seu significado cultural e contribuir para sua preservação. Para tanto, são apresentados conceitos relevantes acerca do tema, os estudos iniciais sobre o Patrimônio Industrial e de que forma se desenvolveu o reconhecimento dos seus valores culturais no Brasil, através da atuação do Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional. Em seguida, faz-se uma breve contextualização histórica, posicionando internacional e nacionalmente o desenvolvimento da indústria de produção de tecidos; e apresenta-se de maneira geral o parque industrial têxtil implantado no Estado do Maranhão, tratando mais profundamente dos remanescentes de três complexos industriais de tecidos cujas edificações ainda permanecem erguidas no interior do Estado: (i) Companhia Industrial Caxiense; (ii) Companhia União Caxiense; (iii) Companhia Manufatureira e Agrícola do Maranhão (CMAM). Por fim, discute-se parte dos valores culturais identificados por meio de uma metodologia que envolve registro e análise da memória oral, pesquisa histórica, levantamento e análise de dados sobre técnica e tecnologia, sobre a arquitetura fabril e sua relação com o espaço urbano, compondo uma paisagem industrial. A discussão desses valores tem por propósito firmar as bases de argumentação para a necessidade de preservar e conservar os antigos complexos industriais de tecidos maranhenses, documentos relevantes do ramo mais importante da Indústria Nacional Brasileira naquele período, a Indústria Têxtil.
dc.description.abstractenThis research is dedicated to analyzing the industrial heritage, specifically, a part of the legacy of the Textile Industry in Maranhão, the pioneer fabric factories implanted in the interior of Maranhão, in the cities of Caxias and Codó. The general objective is to discuss cultural values related to the remnants of this industry, which developed from the end of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century, in order to demonstrate its cultural significance and contribute to its preservation. In the initial part, relevant concepts are presented on the theme, as well as the first investigations about Industrial Heritage and how the recognition of its cultural values in Brazil was developed, through the work of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute - IPHAN. Subsequently, a historical contextualization is made, positioning the development of the textile industry internationally and nationally; and the textile industrial park implanted in the State of Maranhão is presented in a general way, emphasizing the remnants of three industrial fabric complexes whose buildings still remain erected in the interior of the State: (i) Companhia Industrial Caxiense; (ii) Companhia União Caxiense; (iii) Companhia Manufatureira e Agrícola do Maranhão (CMAM). Finally, it discusses part of the cultural values identified through a methodology that involves recording and analyzing oral memory, historical research, gathering and analyzing information about the textile production process and technology, industrial architecture and its relationship with the urban space, composing an industrial landscape. The purpose of discussing these values is to establish the bases of argument for the need to preserve and maintain the old textile industrial complexes in Maranhão that are relevant documents of the most important segment of the Brazilian National Industry in the analyzed period, the Textile Industry.
